if I'm stuck with using this app, I should have constructive suggestions
1. a way to see all the messages ever sent as "dots", where columns are topics and rows are time. no message content, just being able to visualize the "waterfall" and jump to any point
(bonus for indicating how much you've seen, where you're pinged, and being able to split off a topic in this view)
2. the same but with one (or more) of the topics expanded (and interactable, but ideally side-by-side, not interleaved)
when I'm e.g. in a meeting (which I avoid because I can't handle the current UI/UX), I want to be aware of side-topics but not see the messages without opt-in - the current interleaving slowly trashes my caches with each message
3. actually tying a topic to its parent, for a hierarchical view (I suspect this is the hardest one)
if I have access to the API I could maybe prototype 1. (as a web app)
if more people want something like this, maybe we could also talk to the Zulip team. or uhhh issue/PR it?
also seems like more things could use it. GitHub discussions may be more amenable in a waterfall
They’re receptive to issues and they’ve got a Zulip instance for feedback. There’s also a few of them on internals in the threads we’ve made about Zulip.
