Topic: Emoji reaction tooltip regression in Chromium

view this post on Zulip hyd-dev (Mar 15 2021 at 18:57):

A few days ago, the emoji reaction hovercard started to be unavailable in Chromium, Google Chrome as well as the Electron desktop app for me (at least on Linux). I move the mouse to hover over the button but nothing is shown up. It works fine in Firefox. Does anyone else have this issue? It worked for a while even after the Zulip update, so that's not the cause.
Also, I remembered a related issue: Chromium also won't show the reaction list on GitHub if the mouse is hovered over the emoji button, unless I log in and (right) click it. The same works fine in Firefox too, but this is a consistent issue for me, not started to happen a few days ago.

same here, it looks like there isn't a github issue for this yet

can't even tell which difference between the two could cause this

should be the same os version and mostly the same setup  though there are some differences

Also it works fine for me here (and also in GitHub) in Chromium 92.0.4486.0 (758529b50f12de596dca6c0fe6409cba8c37597d).
I assume this is a Chromium bug that has been fixed recently.

FWIW I've found it's fixed in https://github.com/chromium/chromium/compare/1b2016cf626738b4617a0b5def8764776c210eec...0bcac0bd2815e21ebee941b8adb41dc53b90f41a.
It also works (without updating) if I enable native Wayland support.
