Currently zulip chat logs are archived. However the hackmd documents are not. I wonder if it's useful to archive those documents too if they're public.
the archives are usually into GH
which team are you looking into?
I've never had hackmd serve a broken link
Yes, i think hackmd links works fine at the moment. I'm not so sure about them in maybe ten years time.
If they're collected and archived by a bot, they can become permanent reference material in later time.
Just a thought.
I think there would be a lot of outdated information since most of the notes reflect point-in-time or general-direction-towards some outside/larger item
who would be reading these archives?
Mmmm, i do read zulip archives sometimes.
And sometimes i sent links to archive to others, so they can read some specific topic immediately, without asking them for registration and getting familiar with Zulip.
I've done that for hackmd's too, most are public
I guess I do share your concern for "big " writeups - I would hate to lose https://hackmd.io/sH315lO2RuicY-SEt7ynGA?view
But those seem pretty infrequent, most of the time hackmd's don't need to be permanent IMO
Because of how extensive the full report ended up being, I've kept most of it on hackmd.io, but for convenient access, here are all the sections (with individual links):
so yes the needed information is being reflected in GitHub
no, those are only headers, not the full text
so you think @eddyb should have done something more?
I'm missing your point entirely
no, I'm saying that there are some cases where it's useful to archive hackmd documents
it was noted that Github is used for this purpose, is there something else?
