@WG-prioritization/alerts issue #76803 has been requested for prioritization.

Procedure

Joshua Nelson (Sep 16 2020 at 21:23, on Zulip):

P-critical IMO

Joshua Nelson (Sep 16 2020 at 21:23, on Zulip):

Unsound and affects a major crate

apiraino (Sep 16 2020 at 21:43, on Zulip):

I'm curious about this issue. I think the issue reporter is using the wrong TLS cert settings on purpose on example.com and receives a decryption error - am I reading it correctly?

apiraino (Sep 16 2020 at 21:45, on Zulip):

Where is the rust compiler error?

Stu (Sep 16 2020 at 21:49, on Zulip):

There is no obvious rustc error, but the code runs fine and gives a response on nightly-2020-08-17, but fails with the decryption error with every later nightly version. I just reproduced the issue. It fails on nightly but successed on stable.

Joshua Nelson (Sep 16 2020 at 21:57, on Zulip):

If someone has time to make an MCVE that would be helpful as well

Stu (Sep 16 2020 at 22:02, on Zulip):

The new comment is interesting. I have no idea what it has to do with the original example, but it doesn't look very good

triagebot (Sep 16 2020 at 22:11, on Zulip):

Issue #76803's prioritization request has been removed.

Joshua Nelson (Sep 16 2020 at 22:11, on Zulip):

marked as p-critical

DPC (Sep 16 2020 at 22:24, on Zulip):

i think it's useful to keep a thread open to get wider consensus at least for around a day (also given that we are more members now )
