creating topic to discuss compiler-team#302

Wesley Wiser (Jun 05 2020 at 14:53, on Zulip):

My game plan right now is to try to extract some high-level topics from the result hackmds that you and niko created and then make a straw poll to see what topics people are interested in discussing.

Wesley Wiser (Jun 05 2020 at 14:54, on Zulip):

I suppose if the poll doesn't get many replies, that won't work.

Wesley Wiser (Jun 05 2020 at 14:54, on Zulip):

But I don't really want to monopolize the meeting with the things I want to talk about

Wesley Wiser (Jun 16 2020 at 00:55, on Zulip):

So after reviewing the last meeting and the hackmd notes about the survey results, I think my opinion is that the most valuable thing to focus on for this meeting would be the three high-level issues @pnkfelix identified that we ran out of time to discuss in the first meeting:

  1. long standing problems going unaddressed (or hard to track progress thereof; lack of status updates)
  2. worker drain and lack of bandwidth.
  3. change-to-test cycle is too long (more broadly, everything is too high latency)
Wesley Wiser (Jun 16 2020 at 00:56, on Zulip):

I think all of the things I'd wanted to talk about fit under one or more of those categories and the high level issues cover most of the individual concerns from the hackmd.

Wesley Wiser (Jun 16 2020 at 00:57, on Zulip):

Is there any feedback people would like to discuss that isn't covered by those issues? Leave a comment here and I can add it to the meeting agenda.

(Link to hackmd in case anyone needs it)

I probably won't be done by friday, but I'm most of the way through the 409 responses to the contributor survey, which was inspired by the first meeting...

@Wesley Wiser that sounds reasonable to me
