Topic: How can new comers help

Ryan Levick (Mar 20 2020 at 10:51, on Zulip):

Hey all. I'd like to help, but I'm not sure how. Is there any low hanging fruit I can dig my teeth into? :-)

centril (Mar 20 2020 at 10:53, on Zulip):

@Ryan Levick there are a bunch of ICEs that are E-needstest, maybe you'd like to file PRs for closing those?

Ryan Levick (Mar 20 2020 at 10:57, on Zulip):

@centril When you say "file PRs for closing" what do you have in mind? Are these ICEs that be fixed or are they still issues

centril (Mar 20 2020 at 10:58, on Zulip):

@Ryan Levick the ICEs themselves have been fixed, but the issues that reported them are still open, with the E-needstest label, because we need to add a regression test to e.g. src/test/ui/issues/issue-NUMBER.rs

centril (Mar 20 2020 at 10:58, on Zulip):

(although if you can find a more apt directory than src/test/ui, e.g. src/test/ui/parser or some such then that is helpful)

Ryan Levick (Mar 20 2020 at 10:59, on Zulip):

Ok great! Mind if I bug you if I get stuck?

centril (Mar 20 2020 at 10:59, on Zulip):

do bug me

centril (Mar 20 2020 at 11:00, on Zulip):

you might also want to apply -label:E-needs-mcve to avoid the ICEs that are fixed but where the bug report itself is not appropriate as a regression test
