Hello Rust contributor,
My name is Erin, I am contacting you on behalf of the Governance WG for the Rust project. We are contacting you because you're a member of a legacy GitHub Team on rust-lang, and not a current member of any other team. We're trying to transition managing access and permissions to rust-lang/team. Eventually we intend to remove the legacy teams which could result in you losing write permissions on some repos in the rust-lang org. If you believe you still you need access please get in contact with us, by either replying to this email, or on Zulip.
Thank you for your time,
@XAMPPRocky , I don't need full write permissions to the repo, but does github allow fine-grained permissions that would still allow me to close issues on rust-lang/rust? I do use that ability with some regularity
@bstrie Yes! There is the triage working group which has triage access which allows you to close issues.
shall I try to convince them to let me join the team in order to receive that permission explicitly? I see they have a discord channel
@bstrie Yeah, you’ve kind of already have been doing that work. I would ping @DPC (wg lead) and @simulacrum (team lead) about your situation, I don’t think anyone will have a problem.
Ye we don't have a problem xD
Yes, wg-triage is the place for those permissions today.
Please file a PR to the team repo.
@simulacrum @DPC by "file a PR to the team repo", I assume this is what was meant? https://github.com/rust-lang/team/pull/270
@bstrie If you want to edit the commit to associate with GH please do so, otherwise let me know and I can merge
I've had a couple of comments on my GitHub Permission changes RFCs around also defining moderator permissions, etc. on it. Could someone give me a bit more context about what this might mean? https://github.com/rust-lang/rfcs/pull/2872#issuecomment-597956668
Are they talking about moderating comments on GitHub? Or in Discord/Zulip/etc?
I personally think it's out of the scope of this RFC, but want to make sure I understand the context
[I'll reply when I'm awake enough]
