Topic: permissions

simulacrum (May 04 2020 at 18:20, on Zulip):

if possible maybe we should get a wg started in the team repo and manage permissions through that

simulacrum (May 04 2020 at 18:20, on Zulip):

cc @pnkfelix

Santiago Pastorino (May 04 2020 at 18:23, on Zulip):

added to github

Santiago Pastorino (May 04 2020 at 18:24, on Zulip):

let me check crates.io

Santiago Pastorino (May 04 2020 at 18:26, on Zulip):

@Chris Simpkins are you chrissimpkins on crates.io?

Santiago Pastorino (May 04 2020 at 18:27, on Zulip):

@simulacrum also, you're not owner there, what's your crates.io username?

Chris Simpkins (May 04 2020 at 18:28, on Zulip):

that is correct, chrissimpkins on crates.io. I just accepted the invite. Ty!

simulacrum (May 04 2020 at 18:28, on Zulip):

ah Mark-Simulacrum probably

Santiago Pastorino (May 04 2020 at 18:29, on Zulip):

invite sent to Mark-Simulacrum

simulacrum (May 04 2020 at 18:29, on Zulip):

accepted, thanks

Santiago Pastorino (May 04 2020 at 18:31, on Zulip):

@pnkfelix is also missing, do you want me to add you to crates.io?

pnkfelix (May 04 2020 at 19:46, on Zulip):

@Santiago Pastorino yes please

Santiago Pastorino (May 04 2020 at 19:46, on Zulip):

pnkfelix is your user I'd assume

Santiago Pastorino (May 04 2020 at 19:48, on Zulip):

just confirmed that and invite sent

Santiago Pastorino (May 04 2020 at 19:49, on Zulip):

there's some kind of ui problem in the crates.io invite, would be nice if you write the username and it shows a suggest with the avatar and some little amount of info

Santiago Pastorino (May 04 2020 at 19:50, on Zulip):

I ended going to https://crates.io/users/pnkfelix to confirm that but as it doesn't help to prevent inviting the wrong person

Santiago Pastorino (May 04 2020 at 19:50, on Zulip):

anyway :)

Santiago Pastorino (May 04 2020 at 19:51, on Zulip):

given that the only way to log in is by using github it will match github usernames but ... :)

right, isn't that enough to prevent identity fraud (that is, assuming one's github identity is not compromised?)

Santiago Pastorino (May 04 2020 at 20:13, on Zulip):

yes, I was just mentioning a tiny ui thing that is like you just type a username without any suggest or anything like that

Santiago Pastorino (May 04 2020 at 20:14, on Zulip):

once you finish doing that you get a text that says user xyz was invited and you don't even see whose invitations are pending

Santiago Pastorino (May 04 2020 at 20:15, on Zulip):

so mistakes are a bit more likely to happen than in github ui where you have a suggest with the avatar of the person and once you add them you see them and can remove and all that

Santiago Pastorino (May 04 2020 at 20:15, on Zulip):

anyway one would need to be extra careful I'd say :)
