So hey @T-lang -- I sent out an e-mail with a doodle link regarding scheduling a second design meeting, but so far nobody's responded. I'm not sure if this is just "need reminders" or if this is a "not sure if I can deal with a 2nd meeting" (which is a concern of mine). I'm open to "we don't have time for two meetings" -- but I would definitely like to talk out how we should be having longer conversatiosn (and maybe some of the other goals).
to be honest one reason I am hesitating to fill out this poll is that in a month my time zone is going to be shifted 6 hours
and I am having trouble predicting what times I will be available then. Even though really it should open up slots in my schedule...
Hey @T-lang -- I want to bring this topic up again. I really feel the need for us to have more time to do in-depth discussion.
We do have I suppose 4 responses on the doodle, let me see what overlaps exist
heh, relatively little
Well, it looks like 11am or 12am (Boston time) might be a candidate, perhaps on Wednesday (I think it'd be good to do a day other than Thursday)
I wrote my response based on my Paris time zone
Yeah, @pnkfelix, I was ignoring your line :)
On the premise that your constraints will soon look a lot more like mine
Or at least a "subset" of mine
That is likely false given that you will have distinct family obligations / schedule, but maybe true-ish :)
constraints are still likely subset, i.e. availability likely to be superset, yes
i.e. you serve as reasonable proxy for me.
As far as things to use it for, some of the topics I think might be great to spend in-depth time discussing:
dyn Traitsoundness issue and our overall approach there
I imagine that just explaining stuff would do a lot not only to keep all of us in the loop, but also to educate the community -- though I wonder if there might even be room for a kind of irregular "lecture series" more in that vein
Also reviewing output and progress from shepherds.
I was thinking more about this meeting. I think we should be thinking hard about how to enable participation in t-lang with a smaller, more directed time investment.
For example, @Taylor Cramer in their new position has less time to participate; @RalfJ doesn't have enough but has obvious expertise; etc.
I am thinking specifically that we should aim to have triage be a kind of "optional" (and maybe even rotating) duty
I want to say "with the goal of making uncontroversial decisions" but maybe that's too limited
Anyway getting a second meeting up and going will (I think) be an important part of that
One that is scheduled more in advance (and potentially moves at times to accommodate the needs of infrequent guests)
I missed this poll the first time around and have since added my response.
