Topic: RFC #2795

David Hewitt (Dec 16 2019 at 09:52, on Zulip):

Hi - I'm the author of RFC#2795. The RFC has just passed its final comment period (hooray!). I'm happy to do the implementation work. This is my first RFC, so I might need to ask a few questions as things go. Is this an appropriate place to ask them?

davidtwco (Dec 16 2019 at 10:35, on Zulip):

#t-compiler and #t-compiler/help are good places to ask for help regarding implementation

David Hewitt (Dec 16 2019 at 10:37, on Zulip):

Thanks. I'm expecting to find the implementation straightforward enough. Most my questions will be around the whole process. (E.g. am I responsible for creating the tracking issue?)

Josh Triplett (Dec 16 2019 at 16:05, on Zulip):

No, the person who merges the RFC PR will create the tracking issue. Though if you want to make their job easier, you can summarize the work that needs doing as a checklist.

Josh Triplett (Dec 16 2019 at 16:05, on Zulip):

You can look at other tracking issues for examples of that.

David Hewitt (Dec 16 2019 at 16:28, on Zulip):

, thanks - I'll write up a checklist shortly and add it to the bottom of the RFC discussion, unless someone tells me a better place to put it!

Josh Triplett (Dec 16 2019 at 16:38, on Zulip):

That's a good place to put it.

Josh Triplett (Dec 16 2019 at 16:39, on Zulip):

Just label it "checklist for the tracking issue:"

Josh Triplett (Dec 16 2019 at 16:44, on Zulip):

Thanks again for the proposal and all the work getting it in!

David Hewitt (Jan 07 2020 at 16:06, on Zulip):

Who should I ping to ask for a tracking issue for https://github.com/rust-lang/rfcs/issues/2795? I'm keen to get started with a first implementation!

nikomatsakis (Jan 07 2020 at 19:14, on Zulip):

You've come to the right place... we have a few RFCs to merge I think actually,...

nikomatsakis (Jan 07 2020 at 19:26, on Zulip):

done

David Hewitt (Jan 07 2020 at 19:30, on Zulip):

 thanks!
