Yoshua Wuyts (Jul 30 2019 at 16:29, on Zulip):

I believe it's weekly meeting time?

Taylor Cramer (Jul 30 2019 at 16:29, on Zulip):

Indeed!

Taylor Cramer (Jul 30 2019 at 16:29, on Zulip):

I landed the change to move to new ANCHOR tags

Taylor Cramer (Jul 30 2019 at 16:30, on Zulip):

but otherwise haven't done more work on the book

Taylor Cramer (Jul 30 2019 at 16:30, on Zulip):

@nikomatsakis was suggesting we should perhaps triage the list of "things that are unexpectedly hard" + workarounds and have a section dedicated to that

Yoshua Wuyts (Jul 30 2019 at 16:30, on Zulip):

@Taylor Cramer that sounds reasonable

Taylor Cramer (Jul 30 2019 at 16:30, on Zulip):

I'm wondering whether that should be its own section or whether we should spread it throughout the book as we introduce concepts that are related

Yoshua Wuyts (Jul 30 2019 at 16:31, on Zulip):

Quick updates for me: I haven't made much progress on streams docs. I've been thinking of how to approach them, but not done any actual writing yet. Probably stalled for a few weeks until after Rustconf.

Taylor Cramer (Jul 30 2019 at 16:31, on Zulip):

https://github.com/rust-lang/async-book/issues/22 is the issue

Yoshua Wuyts (Jul 30 2019 at 16:31, on Zulip):

@Taylor Cramer I think having it be its own section for now might just be easy

Taylor Cramer (Jul 30 2019 at 16:31, on Zulip):

Okay!

Taylor Cramer (Jul 30 2019 at 16:31, on Zulip):

I figure I'm probably the most likely one to write such a section

Taylor Cramer (Jul 30 2019 at 16:31, on Zulip):

I'll block off some time this week for it

Yoshua Wuyts (Jul 30 2019 at 16:32, on Zulip):

It seems there are currently only two "unexpectedly hard things" listed, one of which I filed yesterday

Yoshua Wuyts (Jul 30 2019 at 16:32, on Zulip):

Are there any more we should include?

Taylor Cramer (Jul 30 2019 at 16:33, on Zulip):

I have a few that I'll go through

Yoshua Wuyts (Jul 30 2019 at 16:33, on Zulip):

awesome

Taylor Cramer (Jul 30 2019 at 16:33, on Zulip):

I was also going to triage the list of async/await issues for some

Taylor Cramer (Jul 30 2019 at 16:34, on Zulip):

aside from that, I've also blocked off some time on my calendar friday to work on the select! section

Taylor Cramer (Jul 30 2019 at 16:34, on Zulip):

I think that's it as far as my plans

Yoshua Wuyts (Jul 30 2019 at 16:37, on Zulip):

cool, yeah like I said I'm a bit tied for time the next two weeks (until Rustconf) so can't promise I'll make much progress on streams

Yoshua Wuyts (Jul 30 2019 at 16:37, on Zulip):

And I think that's it for the meeting no? Unless there's something else that needs to be shared?

Giles Cope (Jul 30 2019 at 16:47, on Zulip):

My PR is done, so am ready for another.

Giles Cope (Jul 30 2019 at 16:47, on Zulip):

Are there any other rough edges on the error message front?

Taylor Cramer (Jul 30 2019 at 16:59, on Zulip):

@Giles Cope this is the book meeting-- did you mean to ask this in the wg-async-foundations chat?

Giles Cope (Jul 30 2019 at 17:07, on Zulip):

good point. I don't think I'm quite in a position to write the book yet!
