So @Amanjeev Sethi's tweet got me thinking:

I wanted to suggest yesterday that we ought to do a "sprint blog post" to lay out our immediate aims and draw attention. I think this is something all working groups should do, though we don't always manage it =)

Amanjeev Sethi (May 01 2019 at 14:35, on Zulip):

Would that be on https://blog.rust-lang.org/ ?

Santiago Pastorino (May 01 2019 at 15:16, on Zulip):

@nikomatsakis seems good

nikomatsakis (May 01 2019 at 15:18, on Zulip):

That's a good question. It's not something we've traditionally used the main blog for, but I think we perhaps underutilize the main blog. I've also debated that the compiler team ought to have a blog.

nikomatsakis (May 01 2019 at 15:19, on Zulip):

Or, more accurately, I think we should have some way to call attention to status updates and the like

nikomatsakis (May 01 2019 at 15:19, on Zulip):

and this feels like that sort of thing

nikomatsakis (May 01 2019 at 15:19, on Zulip):

anyway, I wasn't imaging anything super fancy

nikomatsakis (May 01 2019 at 15:19, on Zulip):

I think a post saying "We're creating a new learning wg. It's focus is making rustc better to learn. To start, we're doing x, y, and z" would suffice

mark-i-m (May 06 2019 at 17:23, on Zulip):

Maybe it's time for a dev-blog.rust-lang.org? A blog for the compiler contributors?

nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 17:56, on Zulip):

interesting thought

nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 17:56, on Zulip):

I've also wanted to have a place to blog about lang team stuff

simulacrum (May 09 2019 at 18:15, on Zulip):

FWIW I think posting on blog.rust-lang.org is fine for things other than releases personally; we might not link to it from HN, reddit, internals, users, etc. but it is a good forum

simulacrum (May 09 2019 at 18:15, on Zulip):

OTOH setting up compiler.blog.rust-lang.org would also be pretty easy

Amanjeev Sethi (May 09 2019 at 20:23, on Zulip):

How many posts do we anticipate? If it is not much, maybe using some kind of filtering mechanism might be better and just one blog to find all content?

nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 20:59, on Zulip):

We've discussed this in #t-compiler/wg-meta a bit -- I think that if working groups are working well, it'd be nice to have a "regular way" to post updates

nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 20:59, on Zulip):

i'm not sure the main blog is a good fit for this

Amanjeev Sethi (May 09 2019 at 20:59, on Zulip):

oh makes sense then to have a separate blog

mark-i-m (May 09 2019 at 23:59, on Zulip):

yeah, it would help a lot, I think, rather than having to follow many individual blogs (e.g. niko's, boats's, aturon's, ...)
