nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 17:59, on Zulip):

(PS, @Iñaki Garay or @Federico Carrone, do you want to be added to the "wg-meta" user group?)

nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 18:00, on Zulip):

# PRs

@Wesley Wiser rocks,

nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 18:00, on Zulip):

merge

nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 18:01, on Zulip):

Update docs to reflect our policy on organization membership compiler-team#84

nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 18:01, on Zulip):

seems fine, i'll merge

nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 18:02, on Zulip):

[WIP] Create static web page for the compiler team with zola compiler-team#83

nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 18:02, on Zulip):

very exciting, not ready to merge

Iñaki Garay (May 09 2019 at 18:02, on Zulip):

(PS, Iñaki Garay or Federico Carrone, do you want to be added to the "wg-meta" user group?)

yes please, I follow all WG meetings and being notified would help me focus

Iñaki Garay (May 09 2019 at 18:02, on Zulip):

(all WG-meta meeting)

nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 18:03, on Zulip):

I was going to say

nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 18:03, on Zulip):

"ALL" the meetings :shock:

centril (May 09 2019 at 18:03, on Zulip):

Indeed =P

nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 18:03, on Zulip):

Add experts map as toml file compiler-team#74

nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 18:03, on Zulip):

I think the main concern is that the set of directories has not been filled in

nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 18:03, on Zulip):

I'm inclined to merge this and open a follow-up issue

davidtwco (May 09 2019 at 18:03, on Zulip):

The links in those quotes aren't right by the way.

davidtwco (May 09 2019 at 18:04, on Zulip):

Thanks.

nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 18:05, on Zulip):

created https://github.com/rust-lang/compiler-team/issues/87

nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 18:05, on Zulip):

btw, who knows about Zola?

nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 18:05, on Zulip):

in particular, is there a format (TOML, JSON, etc) it prefers...

nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 18:06, on Zulip):

Determine working group check-in schedule w/ a formula. compiler-team#67

still blocked, I think

davidtwco (May 09 2019 at 18:06, on Zulip):

Yeah.

davidtwco (May 09 2019 at 18:07, on Zulip):

in particular, is there a format (TOML, JSON, etc) it prefers...

I can't see any mention of a data directory like Jekyll has, so not sure.

nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 18:08, on Zulip):

It seems like that'd be an important feature

nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 18:08, on Zulip):

So I just filed

contributor RFC compiler-team#88

nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 18:09, on Zulip):

I did the "team repo" work, I think the only other bit of work is getting the github teams up to date?

davidtwco (May 09 2019 at 18:09, on Zulip):

It seems like that'd be an important feature

I'd think so, but I didn't look too thoroughly.

davidtwco (May 09 2019 at 18:09, on Zulip):

Internals post?

nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 18:09, on Zulip):

Oh uh yeah

nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 18:09, on Zulip):

:)

Federico Carrone (May 09 2019 at 18:09, on Zulip):

Sure! I can commit to help/work between 4 and 8 hours per week

nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 18:10, on Zulip):

@Federico Carrone one question you can maybe answer is whether Zola permits loading data from a TOML/YAML/XXML file and then generating content from that

nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 18:10, on Zulip):

and if so, what formats it prefers

nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 18:10, on Zulip):

if not, that seems like a problem

Federico Carrone (May 09 2019 at 18:10, on Zulip):

i think it is markdown only :(

Federico Carrone (May 09 2019 at 18:10, on Zulip):

let me double check

nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 18:10, on Zulip):

Hmm. OK. That is kind of a major motivator for moving to Github Pages in the first place.

nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 18:11, on Zulip):

Sure! I can commit to help/work between 4 and 8 hours per week

it shouldn't take that long :)

Federico Carrone (May 09 2019 at 18:11, on Zulip):

So hugo supports markdown, asciidoc, org-mode

davidtwco (May 09 2019 at 18:11, on Zulip):

Zola's README suggests that it has data files.

davidtwco (May 09 2019 at 18:12, on Zulip):

right, i meant like my idea is to have a 4 per week to help create the learning working group :). I already added that to my calendar

davidtwco (May 09 2019 at 18:12, on Zulip):

See the fifth from the bottom row.

Federico Carrone (May 09 2019 at 18:12, on Zulip):

See the fifth from the bottom row.

let me check. on the readme it states

```Supported content formats
Zola: markdown
Cobalt: markdown
Hugo: markdown, asciidoc, org-mode
Pelican: reStructuredText, markdown, asciidoc, org-mode, whatever-you-want
davidtwco (May 09 2019 at 18:12, on Zulip):
I assume it doesn't just mean markdown when it ticks that box.
nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 18:12, on Zulip):
Yeah
nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 18:12, on Zulip):
If it has a templating system, it must support data files
davidtwco (May 09 2019 at 18:13, on Zulip):
https://github.com/getzola/zola/pull/379
davidtwco (May 09 2019 at 18:13, on Zulip):
We should be good.
nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 18:14, on Zulip):
skimming the docs it wasn't obvious how to (e.g.) insert a "for loop"
nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 18:14, on Zulip):
but i'm going to assume it works somehow
davidtwco (May 09 2019 at 18:15, on Zulip):
It does, Tera has a for loop construct.
nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 18:16, on Zulip):
ok
nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 18:16, on Zulip):
Jumping back to the github teams, once they are setup, I guess we want to go over the various repositories and "align" their read/write/whatever permissions
davidtwco (May 09 2019 at 18:16, on Zulip):
(you can see it in this example on the README)
nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 18:17, on Zulip):
I guess in general that's something we want to do -- bringing the various repositories "in line" with the new guidelines
nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 18:17, on Zulip):
I guess to start we can file an issue with a check list :)
nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 18:19, on Zulip):
@davidtwco would you be game to create an issue with a checklist? (not necessarily do the actual updating)
nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 18:19, on Zulip):
then we can ping folks from the relevant repos
davidtwco (May 09 2019 at 18:19, on Zulip):
Would this list suffice?
nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 18:20, on Zulip):
ah, probably
nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 18:20, on Zulip):
yeah I was thinking that this issue could be kind of "generalized"
davidtwco (May 09 2019 at 18:20, on Zulip):
That makes sense.
nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 18:21, on Zulip):
I thikn what I would do is to create an issue with
then maybe we can ping a few folks to handle them
nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 18:21, on Zulip):
seems like we're most of the way there
nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 18:21, on Zulip):
anyway, anybody got anything else to discuss?
davidtwco (May 09 2019 at 18:22, on Zulip):
I'll make a note to generalize that issue.
davidtwco (May 09 2019 at 18:22, on Zulip):
anyway, anybody got anything else to discuss?
Not that I can think of.
nikomatsakis (May 09 2019 at 18:25, on Zulip):
thanks all :heart:
davidtwco (May 09 2019 at 20:32, on Zulip):
Alright, updated compiler-team#65 to be more general.
