I saw the recent inception of Windows/ARM target groups (nice!) and wanted to reach out about wasm as well. I'm not sure that it's really necessary at this time, especially if there's process involved, but if the need arises I'd be happy to help field any wasm-specific questions for targets and such.
I basically want to just extend an invitation that if wasm-specific question arise I'm happy to be pinged to help out (and I suspect others would be too!). I also suspect, however, that the need for a whole target group is much more urgent for Windows/ARM than it is for wasm, which is much more nascent still.
In any case wanted to bring this up in case it helps in the future!
I think we should create this group
@Alex Crichton there's a checklist about what is needed here https://github.com/rust-lang/compiler-team/issues/282 in case you want to jump into this, otherwise maybe just opening an issue about this in the repo would be the way to go :)
@Alex Crichton that's a good idea, yes
that reminds me --
@Santiago Pastorino I think we should modify the rustc-dev-guide so that rather than having a distinct page for each target group
we have like a kind of "meta page" for notification groups for distinct targets
we can have just one meta page as you've said and also if there's some particular information about a target group we can briefly explain it there
Ok thanks for the input! I'll look to seeing if I can file some things for this in the near future, will keep y'all posted
@Alex Crichton I can set it up later today maybe, what names?
people can add themselves later too
I'd definitely be on it, and I suspect @Nick Fitzgerald may be interested in being cc'd too
I was thinking there's likely others interested too, but tbh it's mostly me at this point and if it's just me getting pinged it may not be worthwhile having a whole group
it's not so much work and I guess other people might join over time
eventually I'd like to have groups like this for all the targets we support so...
