Hey all -- I started a draft of the major change proposal RFC which you can find this hackmd.

Please feel free to leave comments or suggest edits (or even make those edits, if you are pretty sure I'll agree).

nikomatsakis (Mar 05 2020 at 22:34, on Zulip):

The motivation is sort of weak right now ;)

@nikomatsakis looks great

Santiago Pastorino (Mar 06 2020 at 16:37, on Zulip):

we need to fill it with examples :)

Santiago Pastorino (Mar 06 2020 at 16:37, on Zulip):

I was thinking about the gcx removal, as kind of a small but maybe major change?

Santiago Pastorino (Mar 06 2020 at 16:38, on Zulip):

given that you mentioned renaming tcx, that could be an example I guess?

Santiago Pastorino (Mar 06 2020 at 16:39, on Zulip):

another thing ... maybe worth adding to the set of question one that it's like ... what if I missed the main discussions about the major change but I have objections?

yes, that is maybe even more major --

nikomatsakis (Mar 07 2020 at 12:43, on Zulip):

it's a good example actually

nikomatsakis (Mar 07 2020 at 12:44, on Zulip):

there should be an easy escalation path from "major change proposal" to "design meeting"

nikomatsakis (Mar 07 2020 at 12:44, on Zulip):

i.e., I think that's a case where the objection might have been "let's talk it over" (or at least there are going to be such cases)
