Topic: cargo check doesn't always work

CryZe (Dec 24 2020 at 00:12, on Zulip):

Apparently if cargo check contains lifetime problems, rust-analyzer (or rather the VS Code extension) gives up entirely and silently stops showing ANY error messages. Is this a known problem?

Other people in Discord can confirm that this happens for them as well.

I'm assuming the json format or so changed a bit recently or the parser changed and it can't parse those message anymore.

CryZe (Dec 24 2020 at 00:29, on Zulip):

I kinda bisected it to the release that this PR is in: https://github.com/rust-analyzer/rust-analyzer/pull/6734

So this likely broke the lifetime error parsing.

Does it still happen on the latest nightly? Because that should have a fix

CryZe (Dec 24 2020 at 00:31, on Zulip):

Let me check.

CryZe (Dec 24 2020 at 00:33, on Zulip):

Yeah seems like this is fixed in the nightly. Thank you :D

Nice!
