Topic: pretty prenting for debug!()

How come {:#?} isn't used more often when printing out values in debug printouts? As a beginner with rustc, I find that I often need to change the debug format for the things I'm interested in at any given time (and use grep invocations that are somewhat smarter about multi-line output). Has this ever come up before? Is it something that would annoy more experienced developers?

I should mention that in my previous exposure to a compiler-y project, I used folding markers so that the output from large objects/tables only took one line, but could always expand it in my editor to see the full object

(a hack, of course)
