Stream: t-compiler/const-eval

Topic: Weekly check-in?

One of the action items from yesterday's T-lang meeting was to start generating weekly progress updates from t-compiler/const-eval. const-eval is a pretty large umbrella--I think there's a few projects going on at the moment that have relatively little in common--but it would be nice to know what people are working on.

Would people be open to setting aside some time, maybe 30 minutes a week, to discuss progress they've made or any new projects they've started/are considering starting? I suppose it doesn't have to be synchronous: we could have a weekly thread where everyone tries to post a status update prior to the lang-team meeting.

@ecstatic-morse sounds good, but I believe the main thing wrt. const that is being worked on that interests T-lang is if/match/loop in const contexts?

ecstatic-morse (Oct 11 2019 at 17:49, on Zulip):

I think efforts to clarify the rules around promotion

ecstatic-morse (Oct 11 2019 at 17:51, on Zulip):

but yes, there's no need to put everything in a weekly report.

centril (Oct 11 2019 at 18:01, on Zulip):

yeah agreed re. the specification efforts

If we do setup such a thing, can we add the event to the compiler team calendar?

nikomatsakis (Oct 11 2019 at 21:37, on Zulip):

(Let me know and I can do it, if desired, though I'm also happy to give out write permissions to compiler team members/contributors e.g. @oli)

I'd love to have a weekly const eval meeting
