@nikomatsakis are we meeting now?
Hi! Yep, I just about to open a topic. I'm not sure whether it'd be better to talk about the "salsa-ification of chalk" or the "universe map", but I'm guessing the former.
seems a bit more straightforward and gives us a chance to explore chalk's setup
cc @Keith Yeung @Josh Huber @Sunjay Varma @scalexm, all people who expressed interest in the thread yesterday
trying to join
Had to run!
Arc all the things!
That video seems like it was worth posting
i.e., I could imagine the discussion of specialization etc being useful to folks who weren't able to watch
random screenshot
now you can see how annoyingly small your screen was .. WHOEVER YOU WERE
compared to my external monitor :P
I thought it was you @nikomatsakis
(with the small screen)
I was assuming that it was taking the monitor of the hoster or something
cause I was seeing the same thing as you locally
it takes the intersection of all people connected
also, tmate is so cool
yes, super useful
oh, maybe it was me
i used my terminal window that is solely reserved for typing commands
who will be working on the salsaification btw?
I was going to ask that
if there are no takers, i'm happy to work on it
seems like something we can also do incrementally -- i.e., maybe we just put in an hour or two at a time to do a step etc
I am happy to help!
Sorry I had to run out in the middle
Someone offered to help me learn how to do my job and given that my job pays my bills so I can work on open source it was important
video is unavailable
probably still need to wait
unless you didn't make it public
it just hadn't quite finished
should be available now
Does not appear to be available
not for me either
Try changing it from private to public
like public to private and then back
I toggled it a few times already
but this time I did it via a different link
and it seemed to work I gues :)
but i think it's now public?
okay it's public now
I'm interested in working on something, it can be salsaification or something else
the code in the video is a bit small :)
I guess I could have upped my font size :P
on the flip side it works as a podcast as well :)
hmm yeah it looks like it was scaled down or something
I might be able to fix that :)
tmate over asciinema could be an interesting combination
but I don't know how
I was unaware of that
oh I'm not sure it's a thing that exists (the combination, that is)
won't record audio I guess
I thnk i'll just up my font size next time =)
not sure why I didn't think of that
presumably I can also clip the recording somehow
and there's the chalk PR to read anyways
(thank you all for making that video, it will be interesting I'm sure)
