Topic: rejuvenate the weekly meeting

nikomatsakis (Oct 05 2018 at 16:21, on Zulip):

So @Tyler Mandry, @scalexm and I were thinking of trying to rejuvenate the weekly meeting — perhaps in the same slot as before? Thoughts?

tmandry (Oct 05 2018 at 16:24, on Zulip):

Works for me!

With the NLL work starting to pivot to Polonius, I'd be interested in helping out here. I know approximately nothing about how the trait system currently works, or how it is intended to work.

and also chalk is super cool

When’s the weekly time slot? I’m interested in helping out in this area, but: it’s been quite a while since my compilers classes, and I’m somewhere between beginner and intermediate in terms of Rust itself. Perhaps there will be some good starter issues and/or overlap with other areas of expertise. :)

Hi everyone. Much like @uberjay I want to help but I don't have a lot of experience in rustc or chalk. It would be nice to have a selection of relatively easy tasks (or medium difficulty but with mentoring notes) that we can start on.

scalexm (Oct 08 2018 at 18:18, on Zulip):

Ping @nikomatsakis , is the first meeting supposed to take place this evening?

nikomatsakis (Oct 08 2018 at 18:30, on Zulip):

@scalexm yes, it was, but I got held up :(

nikomatsakis (Oct 08 2018 at 18:30, on Zulip):

sorry

dhardy (Oct 08 2018 at 18:31, on Zulip):

Aha

dhardy (Oct 08 2018 at 18:31, on Zulip):

Is there an agenda?

nikomatsakis (Oct 08 2018 at 18:31, on Zulip):

not really

nikomatsakis (Oct 08 2018 at 18:31, on Zulip):

let me start a topic

nikomatsakis (Oct 08 2018 at 18:31, on Zulip):

one second
