Topic: Const generics (#53645 and more)

Charles Lew (Feb 07 2019 at 14:57, on Zulip):

Hello, i'm not sure if it's appropriate for me to say this, but is there any chance that the const generics work be "assigned" to a proper WG or something, so at least people can track its progress at something like weekly meetings...

Charles Lew (Feb 07 2019 at 14:59, on Zulip):

You see, PR 53645 is very "epic", and it is open since Aug 2018. It will be great if the rust team can push it over the finish line, and schedule up the following steps...

Vadim Petrochenkov (Feb 07 2019 at 18:28, on Zulip):

#53645 is currently being split into parts.
https://github.com/rust-lang/rust/pull/58191 for example is the first part, and it's going to land soon.

I do not remember such a WG being discussed during the all hands meeting(s), but I do not think it is necessary either, as that is just a single PR...

nagisa (Feb 07 2019 at 22:30, on Zulip):

perhaps maybe I’m wrong

Charles Lew (Feb 08 2019 at 03:18, on Zulip):

@Vadim Petrochenkov Thanks for pointing that out!

Charles Lew (Feb 08 2019 at 03:23, on Zulip):

@nagisa i do not think a dedicated wg is necessary either(at least in this stage), just hoping the progress is tracked somewhere... Maybe quite some libstd API auditing will happen after this work comes to reality.
