Topic: stable release

simulacrum (Jun 25 2019 at 20:32, on Zulip):

FYI: The stable release next week (July 4th) is going to be promoted from beta on the 29th -- likely in the morning -- so please make sure all backports and such are in. Note that this is about 3 days earlier than normal.

simulacrum (Jun 25 2019 at 20:33, on Zulip):

cc @T-compiler

RalfJ (Jun 28 2019 at 14:16, on Zulip):

is that a one-time change of the schedule or do you plan to make this the "new normal"?

centril (Jun 28 2019 at 14:17, on Zulip):

One time change due to CI problems

pnkfelix (Jun 28 2019 at 14:17, on Zulip):

my understanding is that it is a one time change in the schedule

RalfJ (Jun 28 2019 at 14:17, on Zulip):

kk, thanks :)

RalfJ (Jun 28 2019 at 14:18, on Zulip):

For the future, would be nice to post such announcements in #general or so. I have #t-compiler muted because it's very high traffic, and I suspect I am not alone in that.

centril (Jun 28 2019 at 15:00, on Zulip):

@RalfJ you didn't get the email?

RalfJ (Jun 28 2019 at 16:14, on Zulip):

email? no I did not.

centril (Jun 28 2019 at 16:22, on Zulip):

@RalfJ ah; I guess you're not on that mailing list.

centril (Jun 28 2019 at 16:22, on Zulip):

Infra messages mainly go out on discord

centril (Jun 28 2019 at 16:22, on Zulip):

other than mail

RalfJ (Jun 28 2019 at 16:23, on Zulip):

I see. is there an announcement channel there for that kind of stuff?

RalfJ (Jun 28 2019 at 16:23, on Zulip):

I guess that's on me then for avoiding Discord. ;)

centril (Jun 28 2019 at 16:39, on Zulip):

@RalfJ #infra :P

RalfJ (Jun 28 2019 at 16:39, on Zulip):

^^

centril (Jun 28 2019 at 16:40, on Zulip):

It's a bit of a temporary bump; but I think it's for the best long-term... Travis has so many spurious failures :frown:

RalfJ (Jun 28 2019 at 16:57, on Zulip):

yeah, and also this means Miri might get more of the AppVeyor slots? maybe? ;)

centril (Jun 28 2019 at 16:57, on Zulip):

Possibly :joy:

simulacrum (Jun 28 2019 at 21:34, on Zulip):

@RalfJ fwiw, it was posted here purely because it seemed solely a concern for the compiler team (not really for #general)
