Topic: To what to rename mir::Rvalue #70928

pnkfelix (Apr 23 2020 at 14:55, on Zulip):

starting thread to carry on conversation from #70928

pnkfelix (Apr 23 2020 at 14:59, on Zulip):

as suggested in the T-compiler meeting, I am going to ping everyone who expressed an interest from the original PR

pnkfelix (Apr 23 2020 at 15:00, on Zulip):

Ping @eddyb , of course

pnkfelix (Apr 23 2020 at 15:00, on Zulip):

Ping @oli too

pnkfelix (Apr 23 2020 at 15:01, on Zulip):

@Wesley Wiser noted that rvalue was easy to grep for

pnkfelix (Apr 23 2020 at 15:02, on Zulip):

I do not know if https://github.com/crlf0710 has a zulip presence ...

pnkfelix (Apr 23 2020 at 15:03, on Zulip):

(I do not think petrochenkov actually expressed an interest in participating in the discussion, they merely noted that Op was pretty vague; so I am deliberately not pinging them in this message...)

pnkfelix (Apr 23 2020 at 15:03, on Zulip):

Ping @nikomatsakis too

That's @Charles Lew

Charles Lew (Apr 24 2020 at 06:38, on Zulip):

Thanks for pinging. I just have bad memory about c++ value category as a property of *expression". For the surface syntax level, Rust place expressions and value expressions terminology is a huge improvement to me. I know less about MIR-level things, but i'm happy with anything that doesn't have a "left" or "right" in it, and just never never category rvalue into prvalue and xvalue again :)
