Topic: upcoming triage meeting

nikomatsakis (Mar 05 2019 at 22:11, on Zulip):

I was wondering which working groups we should "sync in" with in the upcoming triage meeting.

Looks like the @WG-self-profile group made some real progress towards a roadmap.

Same for @wg-rfc-2229

(cc @pnkfelix)

davidtwco (Mar 05 2019 at 22:14, on Zulip):

I'd appreciate if we could drop a reminder at the meeting for compiler team members to re-review the crates policy draft - I made a lot of changes after the steering meeting and would like to get some more feedback.

pnkfelix (Mar 05 2019 at 22:43, on Zulip):

Yeah sorry I failed to make an agenda there

pnkfelix (Mar 05 2019 at 22:44, on Zulip):

Let’s tentatively plan to hear from self-profile

pnkfelix (Mar 05 2019 at 22:44, on Zulip):

(I’ll review the situation with rfc-2229 tomorrow )

mw (Mar 06 2019 at 08:05, on Zulip):

Yes, I think @WG-self-profile could give an update at the meeting. @Wesley Wiser, do you want to do that or should I? I think we basically would want to tell everyone that we set a first bigger milestone and what that looks like.

Wesley Wiser (Mar 06 2019 at 14:13, on Zulip):

@mw Totally up to you

mw (Mar 06 2019 at 14:17, on Zulip):

@Wesley Wiser in that case I'll put it into your capable hands :)

Wesley Wiser (Mar 06 2019 at 14:20, on Zulip):

OK :)

pnkfelix (Mar 06 2019 at 15:24, on Zulip):

regarding @wg-rfc-2229 , I don't think @blitzerr is on the T-compiler/meeting list, which may mean that they are not generally available at the T-compiler meeting time?

pnkfelix (Mar 06 2019 at 15:25, on Zulip):

Or maybe to put it more bluntly: @blitzerr , are you available to attend the T-compiler triage meeting on Thursday? If so, would you like to present for the wg-rfc-2229 checkin?

pnkfelix (Mar 06 2019 at 15:26, on Zulip):

(if they are not available, I imagine we should be able to fall back on @nikomatsakis . But I would prefer to spread the effort around if possible.)

blitzerr (Mar 06 2019 at 15:41, on Zulip):

@pnkfelix I am traveling right now but I might be able to. But you are right, in my regular time zone, it is difficult for me to attend meetings actively as it usually during my work hours.

pnkfelix (Mar 06 2019 at 15:42, on Zulip):

@blitzerr that is no problem at all, thanks for confirming my hypothesis

blitzerr (Mar 06 2019 at 15:42, on Zulip):

What does presenting mean ? Can you tell me briefly about the format and what I need to prepare for it ?

blitzerr (Mar 06 2019 at 15:42, on Zulip):

@pnkfelix

pnkfelix (Mar 06 2019 at 15:43, on Zulip):

its at most 15 minutes

blitzerr (Mar 06 2019 at 15:44, on Zulip):

Is it a zoom meeting ?

pnkfelix (Mar 06 2019 at 15:44, on Zulip):

and is just meant to report to the attendees (which is made up of compiler team members and non-compiler team members who are interested) what are the recent bits of progress with the working group, what the current status is

pnkfelix (Mar 06 2019 at 15:44, on Zulip):

and, i suppose, what are the blocking items

blitzerr (Mar 06 2019 at 15:44, on Zulip):

I see makes sense.

pnkfelix (Mar 06 2019 at 15:44, on Zulip):

its also meant as a way to drum up interest from the attendees to help out

pnkfelix (Mar 06 2019 at 15:45, on Zulip):

it is not a zoom meeting. It just is a chat session in Zulip

pnkfelix (Mar 06 2019 at 15:45, on Zulip):

see e.g. https://rust-lang.zulipchat.com/#narrow/stream/131828-t-compiler/topic/.2354818.20weekly.20meeting.202019-02-21/near/159070497

blitzerr (Mar 06 2019 at 15:45, on Zulip):

Sure. I can present this Thursday.

pnkfelix (Mar 06 2019 at 15:46, on Zulip):

To be clear, the meeting itself is an hour, but the first 30 minutes (at most) is dedicated to discussion of triage stuff

pnkfelix (Mar 06 2019 at 15:46, on Zulip):

and the last 30 minutes is dedicated to working group checkin. We are trying to have two WG's present per meeting, which is where the 15 minute figure comes from

pnkfelix (Mar 06 2019 at 15:46, on Zulip):

People do not have to attend for the full hour, especially people like you who have a conflict

pnkfelix (Mar 06 2019 at 15:47, on Zulip):

so we could e.g. have you come when we are at the 30 minute mark, so that you would minimize the time you are distracted from your own job.

pnkfelix (Mar 06 2019 at 15:48, on Zulip):

in any case, since you are traveling, just let me know whether you'll want us to make accommodations in terms of the timing of when you could participate.

pnkfelix (Mar 06 2019 at 15:48, on Zulip):

@blitzerr ^

blitzerr (Mar 06 2019 at 15:48, on Zulip):

I can do this Thursday. I am not working .

pnkfelix (Mar 06 2019 at 15:48, on Zulip):

great

blitzerr (Mar 06 2019 at 15:48, on Zulip):

Thanks for the link.

nikomatsakis (Mar 06 2019 at 17:50, on Zulip):

I can also "fill in" for @blitzerr if needed
