Topic: public meeting calendar

nikomatsakis (Feb 15 2019 at 16:39, on Zulip):

Hey @T-compiler/meeting! I've created a public Google calendar that you should be able to subscribe yourselves to:

https://calendar.google.com/calendar/b/1?cid=NnU1cnJ0Y2U2bHJ0djA3cGZpM2RhbWdqdXNAZ3JvdXAuY2FsZW5kYXIuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbQ

It contains all regular meetings I know of. @T-compiler members, I will happily add you as administrators if you would like to be able to add events to the calendar yourselves. Alternatively, feel free to ask me to add things.

I'll add a link to this calendar in the compiler-team repository. Please let me know if you have any problems subscribing to it!

nagisa (Feb 15 2019 at 16:43, on Zulip):

Is it different from the calendar that we had before?

nikomatsakis (Feb 15 2019 at 17:00, on Zulip):

I'm not aware of a previous calendar...? There is a Rust Community Calendar, and I had various calendar events that were on my personal calendar

nikomatsakis (Feb 15 2019 at 17:00, on Zulip):

I moved those events to this calendar though

nikomatsakis (Feb 15 2019 at 17:01, on Zulip):

This one should be something you can subscribe publicly without getting the details of my dentist appointments =)

davidtwco (Feb 15 2019 at 18:58, on Zulip):

Is there a way to subscribe w/out a google account?

nikomatsakis (Feb 15 2019 at 19:05, on Zulip):

@davidtwco oh, does that not work?

nikomatsakis (Feb 15 2019 at 19:06, on Zulip):

good feedback =) I thought it would be some kind of public link

nikomatsakis (Feb 15 2019 at 19:06, on Zulip):

I'm open to suggestions for other places to host the calendar, or advice on how to make google produce a standard ICS thing or whatever

nikomatsakis (Feb 15 2019 at 19:06, on Zulip):

I did some brief, well, google searching, and this was the most promising link I found in that short time

well I definitely have compiler meetings on my calendar some way or the other

nagisa (Feb 15 2019 at 20:18, on Zulip):

this includes the regular weekly one and the bi-weekly steering one

nikomatsakis (Feb 15 2019 at 20:59, on Zulip):

@nagisa yeah those were just events that I created in my personal calendar and had added you to the invite list. I moved them over to the new one, so you should (I think) see no difference.

nagisa (Feb 15 2019 at 21:03, on Zulip):

got it.

Santiago Pastorino (Feb 15 2019 at 21:14, on Zulip):

@nagisa or you could just remove everything and follow this new calendar

nagisa (Feb 15 2019 at 21:15, on Zulip):

I’ve… no idea how to remove stuff from my calendar :D

Santiago Pastorino (Feb 15 2019 at 21:16, on Zulip):

:D

davidtwco (Feb 16 2019 at 00:07, on Zulip):

From my brief research, I can't see a way to subscribe to a google calendar w/out an account (perhaps unless it is explicitly shared via email).

nagisa (Feb 16 2019 at 08:14, on Zulip):

Yeah it seems that the CalDAV API needs authentication

nagisa (Feb 16 2019 at 08:15, on Zulip):

You can see the calendar e.g. at https://calendar.google.com/calendar/embed?src=6u5rrtce6lrtv07pfi3damgjus%40group.calendar.google.com&ctz=Europe%2FVilnius without logging in (note it is in my tz)...

nagisa (Feb 16 2019 at 08:15, on Zulip):

Ah here it is: https://calendar.google.com/calendar/ical/6u5rrtce6lrtv07pfi3damgjus%40group.calendar.google.com/public/basic.ics

nikomatsakis (Feb 16 2019 at 12:55, on Zulip):

@davidtwco Try this link:

nikomatsakis (Feb 16 2019 at 12:55, on Zulip):

Oh, I guess @nagisa already published it

nikomatsakis (Feb 16 2019 at 12:55, on Zulip):

I just found it digging about in my gmail settings

nikomatsakis (Feb 16 2019 at 12:55, on Zulip):

I think that should work?

davidtwco (Feb 16 2019 at 13:04, on Zulip):

Worked great, thanks.
