@Jake Goulding that reminds me I had 500s on the playground (apparently some other too since they notified / jokingly blamed me for some reason ;)

@lqd Like, when loading the page or when running code?

lqd (Jul 26 2018 at 14:04, on Zulip):

running code, but that happened only a couple times hours ago

lqd (Jul 26 2018 at 14:05, on Zulip):

I was sent this, and also it's what I experienced: Failed to execute code: Error { kind: ServerError(InternalServerError), url: Some("https://play.rust-lang.org/execute") }

Jake Goulding (Jul 26 2018 at 14:07, on Zulip):

Yeah, there was a botched deploy last night

aws s3 sync only uses the filesize to test of a file should be updated. This is a problem for playground assets like index.html as they change from containing foo-ABC123 to foo-ABC124.

I have some extra code to fetch those asserts that don't change name, but at some point, I started generating an index.html.gz. That wasn't in the list. After a deploy, it wasn't updated and pointed to old assets

lqd (Jul 26 2018 at 14:07, on Zulip):

"Unable to deserialize request: Can't parse body to the struct"

lqd (Jul 26 2018 at 14:08, on Zulip):

oh dang

Jake Goulding (Jul 26 2018 at 14:08, on Zulip):

so I manually updated those files and fixed the script. If you still see it, you should just reload / wait an hour and revisit

lqd (Jul 26 2018 at 14:09, on Zulip):

yeah I myself haven't seen it for a while, thanks shep!

Jake Goulding (Jul 26 2018 at 14:09, on Zulip):

@lqd and I'm guessing you were sent that from the IRC bot maintainer, who uses internal APIs that I've never stated can be used ;-)

lqd (Jul 26 2018 at 14:09, on Zulip):

hahaha :)

Jake Goulding (Jul 26 2018 at 14:09, on Zulip):

so they will need to start passing the new parameter

Jake Goulding (Jul 26 2018 at 14:10, on Zulip):

In positive news, you can turn on backtraces now!

Jake Goulding (Jul 26 2018 at 14:10, on Zulip):

You don't happen to know of an easy-to-produce ICE so I can test it with backtraces on, do you?

Jake Goulding (Jul 26 2018 at 14:11, on Zulip):

break rust doesn't ICE, thought I thought it did

lqd (Jul 26 2018 at 14:11, on Zulip):

backtraces ? oh I thought they were slow

Jake Goulding (Jul 26 2018 at 14:11, on Zulip):

That's why it's an option you can turn on on demand

lqd (Jul 26 2018 at 14:12, on Zulip):

I can find an ICE I think

lqd (Jul 26 2018 at 14:13, on Zulip):

oh the one I thought of only broke in the nightlies that were not released yet

lqd (Jul 26 2018 at 14:15, on Zulip):

@Jake Goulding https://play.rust-lang.org/?gist=4c950eab5ae8ff3cf0a4f7a9f1eb0f9a&version=nightly&mode=debug&edition=2015

Jake Goulding (Jul 26 2018 at 14:16, on Zulip):

Cool. I was pretty sure that I was setting the environment variable early enough that the compiler would see it

lqd (Jul 26 2018 at 14:17, on Zulip):

yup it works nicely

lqd (Jul 26 2018 at 14:17, on Zulip):

did you tell boats yet ? :)

Jake Goulding (Jul 26 2018 at 14:17, on Zulip):

hmm, forgot about that. I pointed them towards the issue which I closed, so theoretically if they cared enough to subscribe
