@nikomatsakis now that the process for domain WGs has been released, we still have the unofficial CUDA-WG that has been doing some work in the compiler

gnzlbg (Jun 13 2019 at 12:29, on Zulip):

It might make more sense for this WG to become part of the compiler team (e.g. t-compiler/wg-cuda) as opposed to applying as a domain WG

gnzlbg (Jun 13 2019 at 12:30, on Zulip):

the domain would be "heterogeneous computing" or something like that, and such a domain WG would probably focus on how to use accelerators / GPGPUs from Rust in general, as opposed to focusing on particular technologies like CUDA and such (although it could do that)

gnzlbg (Jun 13 2019 at 12:31, on Zulip):

Our WG mostly focuses on trying to get the NVPTX target to Tier-2

that kind of summarizes what we do, we also have a roadmap in the repo, and well issues and PRs

nikomatsakis (Jun 13 2019 at 13:29, on Zulip):

@gnzlbg I just saw your conversation with @Florian Gilcher on discord

nikomatsakis (Jun 13 2019 at 13:29, on Zulip):

as well

nikomatsakis (Jun 13 2019 at 13:30, on Zulip):

I'm pretty interested in this, I think I've mentioned from time to time

nikomatsakis (Jun 13 2019 at 13:31, on Zulip):

let me take a closer look at your "application"

friendly ping: @nikomatsakis @gnzlbg - official CUDA team is still something I'd like to pursue
