Topic: The t-prefix

Joeri van Ruth (Mar 01 2019 at 09:26, on Zulip):

So, what's the story behind the t-prefix on most of the channels?

Pietro Albini (Mar 01 2019 at 09:26, on Zulip):

t- is for teams, wg- is for working groups

Joeri van Ruth (Mar 01 2019 at 09:27, on Zulip):

Thanks! So, what's the difference between a team and a working group? :)

Joeri van Ruth (Mar 01 2019 at 09:28, on Zulip):

Ah, I see, working groups are inside teams

Joeri van Ruth (Mar 01 2019 at 09:28, on Zulip):

Thank you and see you later

Pietro Albini (Mar 01 2019 at 09:28, on Zulip):

working groups can also be standalone (like wg-embedded, wg-cli...)

Pietro Albini (Mar 01 2019 at 09:29, on Zulip):

the difference is that working groups (usually) don't have any membership requirements and are focused on a specific issue

Pietro Albini (Mar 01 2019 at 09:30, on Zulip):

while teams have actual decision power over a part of the rust project and usually more strict membership requirements

Joeri van Ruth (Mar 01 2019 at 09:30, on Zulip):

Yes, I remember seeing announcements that so-and-so is now a member on this-or-that team

Joeri van Ruth (Mar 01 2019 at 09:31, on Zulip):

I have to go now, thank you for taking the time to answer my questions

Pietro Albini (Mar 01 2019 at 09:31, on Zulip):

see you later!
