Topic: can we make a point release with the mingw fix?

Luca Barbato (Mar 24 2020 at 09:17, on Zulip):

Currently stable is broken on windows-gnu until https://github.com/rust-lang/rust/pull/67429 does not hit it.

Charles Lew (Mar 24 2020 at 09:57, on Zulip):

it has always been broken... and there were workarounds from the user side.

Luca Barbato (Mar 24 2020 at 10:13, on Zulip):

the current nightly is not broken for linking, on the other hand the avx512 messup makes even suggesting to use nightly a no-op...

Amanieu (Mar 24 2020 at 10:22, on Zulip):

The avx512 issue is now fixed on nightly

Luca Barbato (Mar 24 2020 at 10:34, on Zulip):

good :)

Luca Barbato (Mar 24 2020 at 10:34, on Zulip):

I guess I can document to use the msvc variant to build the tools

XAMPPRocky (Mar 24 2020 at 11:54, on Zulip):

@Luca Barbato That change will be in the next release (1.43.0)

as per rustc 1.44.0-nightly (42abbd887 2020-04-07)

error[E0658]: use of unstable library feature 'stdsimd'

The problem persists.

We may have not stabilized everything? Not sure.
