Huh I thought we had that permission enabled

simulacrum (Jan 08 2020 at 11:55, on Zulip):

I'll get around to it in a bit when I get to my computer

(forked this from #general > libs team meetings and btree)

I can't remember exactly how we've got that set up - I'm fairly sure you're only able to fork a conversation at one of your own messages, I'm not sure if the 1 hour edit window applies to that.

XAMPPRocky (Jan 08 2020 at 12:06, on Zulip):

Yes, I definitely can edit my own message's topic. The time limit does not apply.

simulacrum (Jan 08 2020 at 12:18, on Zulip):

I wonder though -- if users can only edit the topic of their own message, can they not then select the "all later messages" or whatever?

simulacrum (Jan 08 2020 at 12:18, on Zulip):

at that point it seems... almost useless :)

XAMPPRocky (Jan 08 2020 at 12:56, on Zulip):

@simulacrum I can select that option. I just can't edit another persons topic at all. edit-options.png

davidtwco (Jan 08 2020 at 13:35, on Zulip):

There's a setting to enable changing the topics of anyone's messages.

simulacrum (Jan 08 2020 at 13:57, on Zulip):

Yes I specifically meant that editing the topic of your own message if you can't edit others doesn't seem useful

Paul Faria (Jan 08 2020 at 15:50, on Zulip):

Well it can also go wrong. I meant to move only my messages to a different topic and ended up moving everyone's messages. It created a lot of confusion because it was a really long thread
